Food Lies We've Been Programmed to Believe

You have been brainwashed. To some extent we all have. It’s not our fault. It is in the marketing, packaging, behaviors, choices of businesses, schools, friends, homes and society. It is everywhere. The "training" starts young, from infancy even. And once a child is hooked, they are customers for life that then train their kids the same. It's actually a brilliant strategy. Too bad what they are training us to eat is toxic.

Signs you have been brainwashed:
You always order meals for your children off of the kid's menu (no substitutions).
You make a “kids' dinner” and an adult dinner.
You assume your kids won’t eat vegetables.
You have several kid specific marketed foods in your pantry and fridge.
You worry more about feeding your kids food than what it is you are actually feeding them.
At every child function that you host, you only offer “kid foods.”
You feed your baby premade baby cereals.
Most of the meals your children eat are from a package.
I'll never forget the moment when I realized parents tend to feed kids what they THINK kids will eat based on the brainwashing they themselves have had. My twins were sitting in their highchairs waiting for lunch. My mother-in law was over and helping to prepare their lunch. They were eating some of their favorites; cut-up rotisserie chicken, cheddar cheese chunks, avocado slices, diced tomatoes and cut up bread. I remember my mother-in-law being surprised at the meal. She said, “They will eat this avocado and tomato?” I nodded. “Wow, that’s great!” Then she began to prepare the bread and said, “Should I remove the crust off the bread?” I was so surprised by that, but then realized she was operating under the assumption that kids don’t like the crust on bread. I told her, “No, they eat the crust, they do not know any different.”
We have been brainwashed to believe that children need different foods than adults. In fact, society behaves as if there are kid specific foods, and that's the only way kids will eat. You go out to a restaurant, and there is a kid menu with just "kid friendly food." A Child's birthday party typically only offers pizza, chips, candy, soda and cupcakes. Attending Youth group means more pizza, fried chicken, and pop. Finished at the Pediatrician/Dentist/etc, your reward is a sugar and dye filled lollipop! As if their little bodies and taste buds can only handle grilled cheese, cheeseburgers, chicken fingers, fries and sweets.
It's also in the packaging. The marketing alone will tell you if it's a kid food or an adult food. Raisin Bran = adult, Trix = kid. Goldfish = kid, Cheezits = adult. Pop Tarts = kid, Bagels = adult. Honey Nut Cheerios = kid, Mutli-Grain Cheerios = adult. Crustables = kid. Gogo squeeze = kid. Light and Fit yogurt = adult.
Can you see the difference?!?
These so called "kid's foods" are making our children sick. They are the leading catalyst to child obesity, childhood diseases, worsening ADHD symptoms, autoimmune diseases, skin conditions, and a lifelong battle of health problems. Currently 3 out of 5 children will be obese by the time they’re 35 years old. This is in huge part due to the current mindset of society (i.e. the brainwashing), the ingredients, processing, and quality of foods.
Children are not born liking only buttered noodles, Mac n Cheese and fried chicken nuggets. Food companies just want you to believe that is all they like. Kids can like whole nutritious foods. Children can enjoy a healthy plate of food that you enjoy too! We must offer it to them! It's time to remove "kids meals" and "kid friendly" food from your weekly meals and replace them with whole, well balanced, nutritious meals. Even if you’re reading this thinking, "but my kids are picky! They only want kid foods." We can help! We will be releasing courses to help guide you through this process. In the meantime, challenge your mindset. Change your habits. Challenge your children. There are no longer “kid foods.” There are only nutritious foods and highly processed, chemically laden foods.
